Log 6

 --SCRAPED FROM DATASTEM_T020490720

Been a while, huh.

Things have... not been great since my last log entry. Lets see if I can summarise:

The orbital's, uh, orbit had decayed much faster than anticipated. Given that it was a stepping stone on our journey to Wulf 3's surface and the oddness of conditions down here had lengthened our stay on board, the rest of the crew made the decision to abandon ship - transferring their patterns, as I had, to the Forge here at Wulf 3 Base. Euthanising in orbit would trigger a pattern rebuild in the Forge nearest in proximity to the physical death - Wulf 3.

With time running out and with temperatures set to become significantly less comfortable for the orbital occupants, another problem arises. Because why not?

PATTERN QUERIED: SIMS, KATY - LOOP CHECK COMPLETE: OPEN - PATTERN BUILD PENDING
PATTERN QUERIED: MATHER, GRACE - LOOP CHECK COMPLETE: OPEN - PATTERN BUILD PENDING
PATTERN QUERIED: KINNEAR, DAMON - LOOP CHECK COMPLETE: OPEN - PATTERN BUILD PENDING

LOOP CHECK CYCLE: ACTIVE - PATTERNS:3 - OPEN:3

PATTERN PURGE: SIMS, KATY - - FALLBACK CHECK FAILED, RETRYING - - FALLBACK CHECK FAILED, RETRYING - - FALLBACK CHECK FAILED, RETRYING - - FALLBACK CHECK FAILED, RETRYING - - FALLBACK CHECK FAILED, RETRYING - - FALLBACK CHECK FAILED, RETRYING - - FALLBACK CHECK FAILED, RETRYING - -

I'll not bore you with any more log data... Essentially the rest of the crew were stuck. In Space. On a crashing space station. Their patterns we're trapped in the forge aboard the orbital.

No Problem, right? Forge logic dictates that the closes forge system containing your pattern will complete the task... so with the entire crew backed up down here, they'd be restored at Wulf 3 Base. They just had to die... at the same time as the forge was destroyed. All three of them. They have to go down with the ship.

When the time came and the Orbital began to touch the atmosphere and heat up. The crew put themselves to sleep. Their deaths had to  coincide with the destruction of the orbital to ensure the right Forge picked up the job of rebuilding their patterns.

I watched the fireball streak through the sky as the orbital burned up, awaiting the warm pings of the forge as it received "Pattern Closed" signals and prepared to rebuild the crew. From experience this should have been instantaneous, however no signals came. After twenty minutes of frozen indecision I checked the forge:

LOOP CHECK CYCLE: ACTIVE - PATTERNS:1 - OPEN:1

My stomach turned to ice. One pattern. My pattern. The crew weren't there. They can never come back. I'm alone on Wulf, the rest of my team snapped back, hopefully, to Earth due to a fucking storage error.

What the hell do I do now?
